Situation
There’s historic under-investment in cultural opportunities for LGBTQIA+ artists, leaders, & communities, with intersectionally marginalised people routinely & systemically overlooked. This drives insufficient infrastructure, reliance on unpaid expertise & lack of best practices for engaging LGBTQIA+ artists/audiences. Marlborough Productions is the only LGBTQIA+ focused producing organisation in Arts Council’s Portfolio working nationally. Lack of access hinders advancement of social justice.
Solution
We will create spaces of belonging, joy and community through making intersectional queer culture, which will drive social change. Our projects are powerful tools for change, challenging stereotypes, advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights, and will create a more inclusive society, for example: Radical Rhizomes - Brighton & Hove’s only regular social and support network providing a space for creative, emotional and physical nourishment for queer, trans & intersex people of colour.
