100,000 children in NI live in poverty, with inequalities worsened by Covid / the cost-of-living crisis. 1 in 8 young people here face anxiety—25% higher than the UK average. Music is proven to increase confidence, boost morale and improve academic performance, helping young people to express themselves and achieve self-actualisation. Our accessible youth opera programme is reaching those in deprived areas, providing a vital / empowering youth arts intervention while future-proofing opera in NI.

Ulster Youth Opera’s programme, delivered in Belfast, Derry, and Enniskillen by top local opera practitioners, helps young people discover their potential in music and drama. Sessions build skills in harmony, music theory (boosting maths), and drama (enhancing English and communication). Now we are seeking support to showcase their abilities in a spectacular, family-friendly premiere at St Patrick's Armagh, demonstrating how youth opera can contribute to NI's vibrant youth arts landscape.
