There has never been a more important time to encourage children to explore and connect with nature. We are facing a climate emergency. The UK is in the midst of a mental health crisis, particularly among young people, exacerbated by eco-anxiety. Around half of London is made up of green spaces, rivers and tranquil wetlands, hosting an astonishing abundance of wildlife. Yet our consultation with children and young people found that most don’t realise there is nature on their doorstep.

Spending time outside in nature is proven to be good for both adult and children's mental health. It’s essential that children and families are supported to discover nature to improve their wellbeing. We provide hands-on nature lessons for schools at our nature reserves, offering classes the opportunity to explore various habitats and discover wildlife. We also offer a range of family learning activities, allowing the whole family to discover wildlife in their neighbourhood.
