Fundraising to support our ongoing riparian tree planting efforts in the Forth catchment. Riparian trees help support our rivers and everything living in them. Tree planting in the riparian zone (ie.near rivers) can increase habitat connectivity, improve biodiversity and protect water quality.

Salmon thrive in cold, clean water, but without the trees to shade the water, Scotland's rivers are getting warmer. Riparian woodland provides shade and cooling to rivers during peak temperatures, and nutrient input into the river: vital for invertebrates and salmonids alike. However, only 35% of Scotland's rivers are protected by any substantial tree cover. Our rivers in the Forth face increasing temperatures, and further pressure on our already endangered Atlantic Salmon - but we can help.

Every tree we plant can help support our rivers for the future. The Trust will work with landowners and communities to establish and expand existing riparian tree planting sites, connecting vital habitat corridors and increasing tree cover around the Forth’s rivers. Using GIS we can focus on high-priority areas for riparian tree planting, and we will provide volunteers the opportunity to get involved with planting the next generation of riparian trees, fostering environmental responsibility.
