Chichester Festival Youth Theatre is a special place where young people create, learn, make friends, develop skills and have fun. Every week we run theatre workshops for over 850 young people from across West Sussex and Hampshire. This year CFYT turns 40 and is reaching more people then ever before.

Young people are growing up with few creative opportunities both in and out of school. At the same time, they are reporting higher rates of poor mental health, social pressures and feelings of isolation, and a sense of unease about the future. Too many are missing out on the many benefits of taking part in a Youth Theatre – the chance to make friends, opportunities to unleash their creativity and learn new skills, and the chance to perform and grow their confidence and public speaking skills.

For 40 years, CFYT has been offering young people the chance to learn through drama, improvisation, musical theatre, dance, puppetry and technical theatre. In this 40th year, we will: -welcome 850+ young people to weekly term-time CFYT sessions, specialist programmes for Technical Youth Theatre and those with additional needs -create tailored experiences for young carers and young unaccompanied refugees -offer 180 bursaries to those who need it -create exciting performance opportunities
