We recently extended the land that we own at Dam Mire Wood, in Threlkeld, to protect the last undeveloped green field in this part of the village. The newly acquired land is in a poor natural state, making it difficult for biodiversity and wildlife to thrive, and it has no public access. The village, and neighbouring Keswick, are also at high risk of flooding from water from the surrounding fells, made worse by the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather.

In partnership with the Threlkeld community, including school children, we will create an action plan for a series of improvements on the new land at Dam Mire Wood with the aim of restoring biodiversity and nature, slowing the flow of water and improving access. We will create ponds and plant trees providing new habitats for a variety of wildlife. We will install a new bridge and path over Kilnhow Beck and add new seats and pathways for people to enjoy the site and incredible views.
