With music squeezed from the curriculum, many children will not experience the joy of learning an instrument, unless they're from privileged backgrounds. We increase access to the Arts, and enhance lives, providing free instrumental lessons and performance opportunities at Lichfield Festival. Thank you for your support. We've hit our target, but if you still donate, we will reach more children in more schools!

Situation
Children from low-income families are half as likely to learn an instrument, missing out on its positive impact on mental well-being. This lack of access coincides with a 39% rise in probable mental disorders among children aged 8–10 over the past 5 years. If we want children to be happy, to put down their mobile devices and enjoy making music, to unlock their creative and educational potential, we must ensure everyone, regardless of background, has access to a good music education.
Solution
We will remove financial barriers, fulfilling our mission of educating and enhancing lives through music. In collaboration with Entrust Music Service, we will offer primary school children, aged 7 to 10, access to instruments, free lessons and performance opportunities at Lichfield Festival. Current provision is sporadic and dependent on school budget and/or family income. At least half of participating schools will be above the national average for Free Schools Meals removing these barriers.
