This project will enable Grimm & Co to support children and young people, using the joyful discovery of stories as a tool for resilience, motivation, self-esteem, well-being, confidence, aspirations and skills to help make meaning of their world and build a positive narrative within it.

Children and young people, left behind due to disadvantage they experience by being care experienced, living in poverty, and many other reasons, often become further marginalised by the challenges they face. Challenges we work on include low self-esteem or a lack of motivation, aspiration, confidence, resilience, and skills and these can lead to affects on their mental health, the decisions they may make and on the opportunities or life chances available to them.

It started with a Grimm & Co project (2018) where the children and young people created a manifesto for the town with a call to action to become the world's first Children's Capital of Culture by 2025. This has now become a reality for this town, and for its future custodians, the children and young people who live here. Grimm & Co will be hosting the Festival of Stories to celebrate the artistic outcomes from arts-based story workshops taking place throughout 2025 at the Emporium of Stories.
