Due to the constant lack of representation in the creative industry, young people from underrepresented backgrounds are not aware of/ don’t feel welcomed into creative spaces, which deprives them of the same opportunities as their peers. This results in children feeling unsafe and unheard within creative spaces. Financial barriers often prevent young people from attending quality creative classes, which leads them to miss out on social and emotional skills that the arts develop.
We create a safe space for young artists, which represents & responds to the needs of the local community. The participants learn from tutors who look like them, are valuable role models who inspire & educate them how to: follow a creative path, enter the industry and lead within the arts. They will be supported to expand their social awareness. We offer subsidised, affordable rates for classes & additional fee support, received by over 30% of students annually, to ensure no child is left out.
