Art and creative careers lack diversity as they remain largely inaccessible to individuals from lower-income backgrounds. Areas like Dagenham, London’s most deprived borough, have limited arts infrastructure. To drive lasting change, Create London’s space, The White House, addresses this by providing free skill development for low-income families, focusing on underserved children and young people, including those in social care, to unlock creative potential and foster community cohesion.

The White House has over the last 8 years developed trusted relationships with audiences of an older demographic and families. It was recently gifted equipment to set up new facilities — Fabric Lab and Material Lab — which will provide a profound step-change in our ability to target and serve older children and young people. This campaign will help us secure the human resources and expertise needed to run the labs to improve wellbeing, creative career trajectories & train more artist educators.
