Our Members Programme, delivered at our women-only, trauma-informed studios in London, supports women with lived experience of the criminal justice system (CJS) or at risk of entering it. It includes theatre workshops, holistic support, and creative opportunities to build confidence and skills.

Situation
Between September 2024 and January 2025, 1,300 women on Determinate Sentences will be released early under a new government initiative. However, this lacks local, gender-specific support to aid reintegration and prevent re-entry into the CJS. The Bromley Briefing shows 58% of women return to prison within a year. We echo Women in Prison’s call for a sustainable plan to reduce the women’s prison population and the harm caused by the CJS, urging the Government to move beyond emergency measures.
Solution
Each year, we work with 70-100 Members on our core creative Programme. Members receive trauma-informed support, including 1-1 meetings, therapy, advice surgeries, and signposting. Our specialist team, awarded a Silver Trauma-Informed Quality Mark from One Small Thing, addresses complex issues faced by women with criminal justice experience. Without this support, Members cannot thrive. 90% of Members reported improved mental health and wellbeing during the Programme in July 2024.
