Communities across the African drylands face the intertwined crises of poverty and climate change, which threaten landscapes and livelihoods. Trees offer a solution. By supporting communities to grow and care for trees, our projects restore vital land, improve food security, and increase incomes.

Rural communities across the drylands of Africa live on the frontlines of climate change. Landscapes that were once fertile are being degraded due to rising temperatures and extreme weather such as flooding and droughts, and vital forests and their resources are being lost. This has a devastating effect on local people who rely on the land for food and income. Declining land productivity exacerbates poverty, leaving communities vulnerable to an increasingly harsh environment.

Tree Aid projects support communities to grow and care for life-changing trees. Trees have the power to restore landscapes and revitalise soil, promoting better crop growth. They also provide sustainable income generating opportunities for rural families through the sale of non-timber forest products, such as fruits or shea butter made from nuts. To guarantee fair land access to the communities who rely on its resources most, Tree Aid partners with local and international change-makers.
