Our mission is to conserve birds of prey, restore habitats and make wildlife accessible for all. Birds of Prey sit at the top of their food chains and provide vital information about ecosystem health. Protecting these birds and the environments they depend on gives wildlife a fighting chance.

Situation
Widespread land use change in the UK alongside climatic changes, two once common farmland species, Tawny Owls and European Kestrels, are now amber listed for conservation concern, and other species such as Barn Owls and Little Owls are in need of safe nesting and hunting habitat. Alongside this, recent surveys revealed that over 70% of education professionals felt they did not have resource to teach about biodiversity loss, resulting in a lack of nature based learning and connection to wildlife.
Solution
Through installing and monitoring nest boxes for these four species we can see small scale sustainable populations recover, and understand greater information about the effect of land management and climate on their breeding success. Sharing an insight into this work through our Visitor Centre, and providing educational resources alongside nature based learning experiences for our local communities also creates new pathways for access to nature and engagement with practical conservation.
