Circus is expensive because it needs big spaces, specialist equipment and enough teachers to keep everyone safe. So we have to charge a fair price and we know that this can be a barrier to families on low incomes. We want to reach out to and welcome more children from low income households, so they can also learn with us, develop their talents and experience the joy of circus. We also want to take action to provide extra support for children who benefit from that in busy learning settings.

We’ll work with local schools and charity partners, and through our community workshop programme, to raise awareness about our youth circus offer. The bursaries will support families who express an interest in the youth circus or have a child who is inspired and wants to do more by removing the financial barrier, giving them the chance to discover and learn new skills and find the love of circus. We are introducing a model of teaching support similar to other performing arts education settings.
