Cuts to arts education in state schools have reduced access to music and drama for children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. According to the Education Policy Institute, arts spending per pupil in state schools has decreased by 20% since 2010. This limits opportunities for creative expression, social development, and mental well-being. Over 40% of our participants need bursaries to join, highlighting the demand for inclusive, high-quality arts opportunities.

London Youth Opera stages professionally produced operas exclusively performed by children aged 9-18. Our bursary programme removes financial barriers, ensuring inclusivity. We deliver free workshops in state schools, engage diverse communities, and provide backstage internships, developing skills and building confidence through transformational theatre experiences.
