Situation
Our planet is in a state of emergency: climate change, declining species, food security and mental health issues, all need action. Children need an understanding of these issues and enthusiasm to find the solutions for today and the future. However, children today are less active, spend less time outside and are more disconnected from the natural world and wildlife than ever before. Schools face increasing financial pressures, limiting opportunity to engage children with these crucial issues.
Solution
Bore Place Estate is a natural playground and rich learning environment for local children to connect with nature and food, whilst gaining the wellbeing benefits of being outdoors. Free visits for local school children to our 500-acre estate will expand their learning environment to include farmland, woodland, streams, ponds & gardens. The experiential hands-on activities will develop understanding and awareness of environmental issues in the leaders of our future.
