The Theatre for Every Child Campaign (TFEC) states that only “26% of 5-10 yr olds engaged in theatre during 2020” with “children from low-income families missing out the most”. Additionally, the Sutton Trust states that “Since 2023, cuts to school trips have more than doubled” resulting in less school theatre visits. East Riding residents are within the lower engagement with the Arts segments according to Audience Agency’s Spectrum Map, incl. low income households without disposable income.

We know from feedback that low ticket prices (£4pp compared to local av. of £15pp) are important to our audiences and that location is a deciding factor for those booking (94%). Our pop-up shows visit schools & libraries, introducing more young people to theatre incl. over 600 free tickets this year to those in arts 'cold spots'. By bringing theatre to their doorsteps we sell out our Christmas shows annually. This year we have sold 65% of tickets to people who have never been to our shows.
