We are raising funds for our inspiring and live changing work with our local community. Using our skills in the creative arts we work with learning disabled people, older people at risk of isolation & refuges and asylum seekers. Our work develops new skills, foster friendships and improve wellbeing.

Wakefield District has a low rate of cultural engagement across the sector alongside high rates of social depravation and social exclusion. This has led to many of our local young people having low aspirations, therefore not reaching their potential and being left behind. This is alongside our older generation suffering worsening heath and wellbeing and feeling increasingly isolated. The other problem we want to help solve is lack of pride in the local area and to give people a sense of place.

We will continue to ensure we are local vibrant creative arts hub that makes people proud of Wakefield, who also offers weekly groups and activities to support our community. This work will include targeted work for older people at risk of isolation, learning disabled young people, refugee and asylum seekers and children and young people. Our projects encourage people to be more active, make new friends, and learn new skills, all which is proven to improve both physical and mental wellbeing.
