Sewage discharged into our ocean contains a toxic soup of chemicals. Unlike human waste, some of these chemicals don’t break down – they last forever, building up over time in wildlife, the ocean and our bodies. Help us demand the changes that will stop forever chemicals ever reaching the sea.

Our ocean, and the marine life that calls it home, is struggling. Chemical pollution makes marine wildlife more vulnerable to the effects of climate change, habitat loss and infectious disease. ‘Forever chemicals’ can arrive in the sea through sewage pollution and landfill leachate. Species throughout the marine ecosystem are affected, and will be for generations. Marine restoration projects will be undermined by contaminants in the water surrounding them.

We’ll collect evidence to show the extent of some forever chemicals in our seas. We’ll demand stronger regulation from the UK Government to ban their use – working to stop them at source. It shouldn’t be up to consumers to find products that don’t contain toxic chemicals – they shouldn’t be on sale. And we’ll raise awareness of forever chemicals so that everyone can join our calls for protection for the ocean, marine wildlife, and the livelihoods of coastal communities.
