Our programme improves the lives and wellbeing of children with profound and multiple learning disabilities and families with disabled children. We provide specially tailored, creative activities led by expert artist facilitators at the RWA art gallery when it is closed to the public.

For young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, school trips are not the norm. Many venues don’t have the facilities for their specialist requirements. For families with children who have special needs school holidays can be difficult. Few activities are available that cater for disabled children, and brothers and sisters as well. Most participants in Happy Mondays and Happy Families would not usually be able to visit an art gallery or take part in a creative activity.

The RWA will run high-quality term-time schools' sessions (Happy Mondays) and a unique holiday programme (Happy Families), designed for children with SEN+D needs plus their families. Sessions are held when the gallery is closed, ensuring a calm, safe space. Led by trained and expert artist-facilitators, activities are tailored to diverse needs, inspired by gallery exhibitions. Our facilities include a large lift for multiple wheelchairs, adult-sized changing facilities, and a family room.
