Trestle Theatre Company are applying for funding to support our building-based community work at Trestle Arts Base which provides training for young people and the opportunity for adults with multiple needs to engage in the arts through our School of Drama and Community Groups.

Situation
According to a survey by Young Minds, 67% of young people reported that Covid-19 lockdowns had a long-term effect on their mental health. Additionally, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reports that 48% of people with disabilities saw their mental health worsen during the pandemic, compared to 30% of non-disabled people. A lot of this was due to a lack of social interaction, confidence in communication skills & community, all of which we are addressing through our creative work.
Solution
By running 7 weekly drama, singing & dancing sessions at our Arts Base for all people to access we are providing an accessible creative space and outlet where people can meet new people, grow in confidence & learn new creative skills. Our groups bring people together & encourage community cohesion between people with a diverse range of abilities and backgrounds.
