Help us provide free dance classes for local community nurseries, supporting families facing multiple challenges, including asylum seekers new to the city. Our dance classes support little ones to build confidence and have fun. With your help, we can offer more children the gift of dance.

Situation
Brighton & Hove includes among the 20% most deprived areas in England, with 1 in 4 children in the city living in poverty compared to 1 in 3 across England. A new study has found that dance has the most positive impact on treating depression - more than all other activity and taking anti-depressant medication. The more we dance, the healthier our society will be, yet we know that children from the most difficult socio-economic backgrounds often have the least access to arts and culture.
Solution
We will offer a year-long programme of free weekly sessions for nursery aged children from parts of the city that are among the most deprived in the country. We will invite community nurseries and parents of nursery-aged children into The Dance Space, as well as taking sessions directly to them. The sessions will be led by specialist early years dance teachers, trained specifically to work with this age group.
