We use stories to improve children’s creativity, literacy, and wellbeing. Working directly with young people as well as with schools, community centres, and parents/carers we provide targeted projects which support children to fulfil their potential in Oxford’s most underserved areas.

Situation
Oxford is a city known for academic excellence but, for many children living in our city, the reality could not be more different. 26% of Oxford’s children live in poverty and educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in Oxfordshire are lower than the national average at all key stages. The problem begins right from a child's earliest days with many children not starting school with the necessary skills to thrive, an attainment gap which is hard to overcome without the right support.
Solution
We deliver story-based learning projects in underserved areas of Oxford through our Learning, Access and Participation programme. Each of the projects we undertake is specifically catered to support the development of the children, schools, and community groups we work with. Built on a foundation of community engagement and youth-led participatory practice, we aim to address the ever-widening educational attainment gap by accelerating learning and improving wellbeing with story-based learning.
