Children from disadvantaged backgrounds can be up to five months behind their better off peers at the start of school. This attainment gap is the widest it has been for a decade and these children often struggle in the mainstream classroom. Unless addressed, their attainment gap grows as they progress through school: more than half of disadvantaged pupils leave primary school without reaching expected levels in literacy or maths and when they sit for GCSEs, they can be over 18 months behind.

We provide specialist literacy interventions in schools, working one-to-one or in small groups with children who are the furthest behind and need the most help to catch up. Delivered by our expert tutors, our programmes focus on all the key literacy skills: reading, comprehension, writing, listening and speaking. Taking a nurturing, child centred approach, we enable children to close their literacy gap while building confidence and unlocking a child’s true potential in education and beyond.
