Link Age Southwark's vision is for friendly local communities where older people and those living with a diagnosis of dementia thrive. Our services include social, exercise and activity groups. We provide transport for those whose health issues would make independent travel too complex.

Situation
Our mission is to keep older people and those living with a diagnosis of dementia connected to their local community; alleviating loneliness and reducing social isolation, improving health and wellbeing and making communities stronger through volunteering. Many of the older people we support live alone, have complex health and mobility issues and little opportunity to interact with others. Many can feel nervous about joining groups or the journey that is required to attend suitable social events
Solution
Our groups are incredibly popular and provide older people with the opportunity to socialise, exercise and interact with their peers. For many, attendance at one of our groups can be the main or only form of social interaction or opportunity to leave the house that they have each week. There is a body of evidence that highlights the importance of maintaining community connections and the positive impact of the cognitive and physical stimulation that groups such as ours can provide.
