Young refugees and people seeking asylum are a disproportionately prejudiced population facing many barriers to employment: in London alone, 70% of refugees are estimated to be unemployed. Despite being highly skilled and motivated, as newcomers to the UK, refugees often lack language proficiency, UK work experience and qualifications, or the connections and support to find work. Moreover, many lack the knowledge on how to navigate the job market and the opportunities available to them.

Breadwinners is not your typical charity: we transform lives through selling bread! We are a grassroots charity and social enterprise driven to create a community where refugees can thrive in the UK. We do so by delivering three employability programmes for young refugees and people seeking asylum which equip them with work experience on our market stalls and in our head office, as well as training, mentoring, and a supportive community - key ingredients to enable them to pursue their dreams!
