Across Southern African critically endangered rhinos, elephants, pangolins, and big cats such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs are at high risk of poaching. To ensure their protection, we support selfless wildlife rangers who put their lives at risk each day to save nature. Your support is vital.

Situation
In Southern Africa, endangered wildlife faces daily threats from the illegal wildlife trade. Rangers are crucial in combating this, but they endure significant life-threatening risks such as clashes with poachers and dangerous wildlife. Last year, 148 rangers died in the line of duty - a 20% increase on the previous year. Their work is made even more challenging by inadequate equipment, lack of resources, and mental health support, making it one of the most difficult and dangerous jobs globally.
Solution
By working together with our Southern African community-based partners we help to protect wildlife and rangers through the support of ranger training in communication, leadership, and mental health resilience, ensuring rangers are ready for the daily challenges they face. To boost effectiveness, we also support K9 units, providing cutting-edge tech to aid their efforts. With this support, rangers will be safer, more resilient, and better equipped to defend rhinos and other at-risk wildlife.
