43% of car journeys in Birmingham are under 2 miles. Emissions from transport, including from passenger vehicles, will need to be cut by over 70% by the mid-2030s in order to meet the national decarbonisation targets. We know, from community conversations, our residents do not feel confident to cycle or scoot without tuition and guidance. Residents want safe, accessible and quiet routes to Walk and Wheel, without worrying about busy traffic. Without these tools, change is unlikely.

We will provide cycling tuition for all abilities, teaching the skills needed to use bikes confidently. Route-finding sessions by bike or foot, will highlight safe and quiet routes across the city, providing public transport options along the way! Our 69 wards map is a resource which puts all active transport options on paper and screens, which will continue to evolve with the city. The tools will help residents avoid private vehicles for short journeys, and lead a healthier lifestyle.
