Annually, over 5,000 greyhounds and lurchers need to find homes after being cast aside by the racing and coursing industries. This means that they are often abandoned, killed or exported to countries with poor welfare standards. Many greyhounds who survive and make it to the end of their careers, carry scars from the industry. Accidents, poor welfare and treatment often lead to dogs who are physically injured, anxious or shut down. Greyhounds and lurchers need us as a trusted route to safety.

Forever Hounds Trust offers a crucial lifeline to greyhounds and lurchers. This project will fund their rescue, giving them the chance to adjust to life beyond the racing track and coursing, a life they deserve. We provide routine and emergency veterinary care, behavioural assessment, as well as helping each hound adjust to life in their new home. The veterinary treatment can be substantial, from neutering to significant dentals with extractions, from toe dislocations to amputations.
