Creating extended homes where residents at Camphill MK will have the space to live comfortably given changes to the range of learning and physical disabilities within the community. Extensions to the existing homes within the Camphill MK Community will transform the growing houses and allow us to continue to address the long waiting lists for adults with disabilities to have a permanent home.

We now have more residents presenting with sound sensitivity and with our houses accommodating between 7 and 13 individuals there is more need and requirement for additional break out space. A decrease in positive behaviour has been noted as residents can struggle to find spaces to undertake communal activity (such as dining and watching tv) away from other big personalities or high noise level. It is important that these individuals are not just confined to their rooms.

This space would be used for dining and break out space to offer a higher level of comfort within the houses. This new space will offer quiet dining, respite area with sensory lighting. With a second communal space, the group can be split within the house and allow for residents to choose their location based on their own needs and emotions in that moment.
