Brighton Gay Men's Chorus believes that the health benefits brought from choral singing, socialising and support (the 3 S's!) can transform the quality of our lives. We want to broaden access to our activities to members of the LGBTQIA+ community who are at an economic disadvantage.

Social isolation and mental health concerns disproportionately affect the LGBTQIA+ community. We aim to widen access and inclusion within the community. We want to target the d/Deaf community and those on low incomes. Research published by the University of Oxford showed how social networks provide practical and emotional support as well as providing a means of gaining new information and disseminating cultural knowledge. It also outlined the health and well-being benefits of choral singing.

Working with partners and specialist advisors in the community, including the Worthing and Crawley Deaf Social Clubs, Audiovisibility, Deaf Jam in Brighton we will develop new repertory and marketing and communication channels that reflect the needs and expertise of our target audiences. We will create a new bursary fund to ensure members at an economic disadvantage can benefit from participation in regional, national, and international events.
