LCC’s vision is that by 2028, 10% of London’s journeys will be cycled. To make this happen our Dare to Dream campaign will call for Sadiq Khan to create a lasting inclusive legacy for cycling that makes it accessible for all.

Cycling is not accessible to all Londoners; they simply do not consider it an option and many think it is unsafe. There are too many barriers for underrepresented groups such as health factors, social issues and cost and access. There is also not enough high-quality infrastructure in outer boroughs, or that is suitable for women, children and new cyclists. There is not enough positive promotion with behaviour change events within these communities to entice them out of cars and onto bikes.

LCC will mobilise its own supporters and build a coalition of organisations to get behind a new visionary plan for a lasting legacy for cycling in London – Dare to Dream. We will work with some of the most influential transport experts to define the Dare to Dream vision, inspiring Sadiq to leave a bold and innovative transport legacy. Putting London alongside the most progressive European cities. Paris has shown what is possible, London needs to match that ambition or risk being left behind.
