RoR is dedicated to safeguarding the welfare of all former racehorses through preventative measures. We also support horses in times of need through our Vulnerable Horse Scheme. Vulnerable horses are those demonstrably in danger or at risk of neglect or suffering without charitable intervention.

Situation
Vulnerable horses have typically changed ownership several times since retirement from racing and in common with problems shared across the equestrian world, the horses are usually victims of a lack of resource on the part of the owner, either in terms of the time and commitment needed to care for a horse or the cost of keeping a horse.
Solution
RoR provides charitable grant funding to partner racehorse retraining and rehoming centres across Great Britain. This funding is offered in exchange for the centres taking ownership of former racehorses identified as vulnerable. These horses are fully assessed, rehabilitated, retrained, and rehomed with the financial backing of RoR. The current funding per horse is up to £8,000.
