Gene editing is a type of genetic engineering which aims to correct faulty genes. For a genetic condition like EB the ability to do this safely and efficiently holds the key to a cure. We are funding research to find precise safe gene editing tools which we will then bring to human clinical trials

Situation
Epidermolysis Bullosa is currently an incurable condition with no effective treatment. It often leads to chronic wounds that take time to heal or do not heal at all. Management of these wounds includes applying dressings and ointments in an effort to promote closure and avoid infection. These wounds are very painful like severe burns and they lead to contracting scars and an increased risk of skin cancer in the severest forms. Internal skin is also affected making eating difficult.
Solution
Our mission is to find effective treatments for and eventually to cure EB (" epidermolysis bullosa"). This is a genetic skin condition that leads to blistering and skin loss at the slightest friction. It is "Hard to say.Hell to live with" and children and adults with the condition live in constant pain from the burnlike wounds formed. The charity funds medical research focussing on gene modifying and gene corrective strategies aimed at translation into effective treatments and eventual cures
