Situation
The rates of diagnosis of depression are higher in Lancashire compared to the national average for England and suicide rates are significantly higher in Lancashire than in other areas of the country. Through our services we are seeing people who are facing increasingly complex challenges and higher rates of poor mental health. More people, particularly young people, are sharing with us that they are self harming and we've seen an increase in the number of people experiencing suicidal thoughts.
Solution
Through our coaching and therapy sessions, young people and adults are given the time and support they need to learn to understand their mental health. They learn what is happening in their brains when they experience things like anger, anxiety, fear, etc. and develop techniques to help them manage these emotions. With support, they practise using a range of tools that help them to improve their mental health and wellbeing, which they can continue to use throughout their lives.
