Nucleo aims to offer 450 local children and young people free music education during 2025. Through us, children can study an instrument within a strong, supportive musical community that will nurture their individual potential. Nucleo brings learning, friendship, fulfilment and fun into young lives.

Situation
Music education can transform young lives. It helps develop learning and social skills and contributes to a happier, more fulfilled childhood. But fewer and fewer children are getting the chance to benefit. Between 2014 and 2021 there was a fall of 11% in the number of UK children receiving music lessons. Those losing out are from low and middle-income homes: 50% of students at independent schools receive ongoing musical tuition, compared with just 15% at state schools.
Solution
Nucleo provides a free, immersive, ensemble-based, after-school music education programme. We run six days a week throughout the school year and welcome children and young people aged 0-20 from all backgrounds. Every child aged 3+ is offered free loan of an instrument and takes part in weekly group lessons and music theory classes, as well as playing in an ensemble. Our students can stay with us for as long as they are committed to learning, from beginner level through to Grade 8+.
