Park Theatre works to enrich the lives of those in our local area through meaningful creative engagement with arts, music and drama. This Christmas, help us make a real difference to people living with dementia and their carers, through workshops, volunteering and community programmes.

Situation
Since 2016 we have delivered a successful free participatory programme of music and drama workshops for people living with dementia and their carers at our theatre, with people attending weekly from care homes / living on their own in Islington and Haringey. Participants experience coginitive and motor stimulation and mood enhancement, and being part of a creative community. There is now demand for our services in several community settings, and also sessions specifically for unpaid carers.
Solution
Living with dementia, or with someone who does, is incredibly isolating. We are raising funds to expand our existing Dementia Friendly Park programme by working in partnership with local GPs, dementia support networks and link workers to deliver workshops in GP surgeries and community centres, bringing creative activities to people in familiar spaces where they can feel safe and comfortable. We'll accompany this with bespoke workshops for unpaid carers, to offer respite and promote wellbeing.
