For children and their families who experience economic challenges, amid the worsening cost of living crisis, weekends & school holidays without the support that the term-time, week day, school system and other services can bring, can mean limited access to opportunities, a stretch on finances to cover the essentials, isolation, higher levels of anxiety and food insecurity that can lead to a decline in health and well-being and children falling behind in their learning.

Firstsite will bring families together to reduce their isolation, in our award-winning gallery to provide access to day-long creative and physical activities, and a hot nutritious lunch, on weekends and weekdays through the school Christmas holiday period, and at weekends and school holidays throughout the winter period up to the end of May 2025. The activities will be led by artists and will be based around the NHS’s 5 ways to wellbeing – connection, being active, learning new skills, giving to others, paying attention to the present.
