Many villages in rural Tanzania lack access to clean water meaning villagers are forced carry water very long distances from muddy ponds shared with animals, leading to multiple health problems, particularly for children. We use local expertise to sustainably address this with 10 low cost wells.

Our local rep has identified 10 villages and schools in desperate need of clean water. Over 12,000 people now walk long distances to fetch and carry water from streams and ponds shared with animals. This causes multiple health problems, as well as wasting many hours that could be used for more productive labour, or studying.

Our local partner has developed a reliable method of hand drilling and constructing rope hand pumps which pump water from up to 60 metres, do not need electricity and can be easily maintained locally. They have successfully made and installed over 150 rope hand pumps since 2016 all of which are still functioning well and benefitting over 150,000 people.
