To counter the current climate of pessimism and growing community divisions by fostering a sense of hope and positive action. Highlighting existing power within communities, through the unifying message of “Hold on to Hope,” we will encourage active participation in creating a positive future.

The climate of pessimism in communities and the growing perception that multiculturalism is failing. Our research shows that Britain is divided. In a nationally representative poll of 24,952 people in January 2024 we found the following: 41% of people feel that their local neighbourhood has declined in recent years, rising to 57% of people who feel financially desperate. 48% of people think that Britain’s multicultural society isn’t working, rising to 59% of those who feel financial desperate

We seek to launch a broad, values-led initiative that welcomes all and commits people to combating hate with hope in the most tense and divided communities, identifying ways to bring people together around shared interests and concerns and giving a positive voice to those who feel most marginalized. Working with faith communities, the voluntary sector and local organisations we will spread hope by equipping the communities with strengthened resilience and provide lasting change.
