Lewisham is one of the most deprived boroughs in the UK with few free or heavily subsidised high quality activities for children to mitigate socioeconomic disadvantage; proven to lead to disenfranchisement, poor educational attainment, lack of social and employable skills and further (more serious) problems such as gangs, illegal activity and knife crime. There is a lack of positive role models, safe creative spaces and access to the life skills taught through the performing arts.

MTA has over 25 years of experience working with children, including the most disadvantaged and those with SEN. They will now have somewhere fun to go on Saturdays and in their holidays. They will be stretched creatively (singing, dancing, acting) and make new friends from all walks of life. By the end of each course, they'll have performed in front of friends and family - giving a real sense of achievement. Through discovering drama and natural creativity they will grow in self confidence.
