Situation
Parenting can be tough at the best of times but with additional, multiple challenges facing many young families such as poverty, poor mental health, neuro diversity, disability and family breakdown, many parents really struggle to cope. These vulnerable families are often socially excluded, living in isolation and have little, if any, other support. The challenges they face can push them into crisis situations. When this happens it is the often the youngest who are affected the most.
Solution
We will provide emotional and practical support in the families’ own homes, offering encouragement, guidance and role modelling of good parenting behaviours. Through weekly visits, we will provide a listening ear and a hand to hold, building relationships based on trust and friendship. Our team of trained volunteers, who are usually parents themselves, will work alongside parents, giving them the tools they need to overcome the barriers they face, so that their children can really thrive.
