Adolescent girls in rural East Africa are facing unprecedented levels of teenage pregnancies. They have the highest rate of new HIV infections and HIV is the leading cause of death amongst adolescents. 42% of reported gender-based violence cases are in the 10-17 year age group. This is due to a lack of information and knowledge about Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Rights, a lack of agency among adolescent girls, harmful cultural norms and limited access to quality SRH services.

We will provide high-quality SRH and Rights information to marginalised rural communities, to improve knowledge and attitudes towards SRHR among adolescents and stakeholders, enabling communities to challenge cultural norms and support girls to make informed decisions about their health. We will improve access to quality youth friendly SRH services through increased health outreaches and training of health workers to reduce teen pregnancies, HIV infections and gender-based violence.
