Our building has benefited from no substantial capital in its 47 year history. A 2010 condition survey found all mechanical and electrical systems nearing their end of life, a leaking roof, cracking walls, collapsing seats and widespread inaccessibility. Since then, the building has continued to deteriorate, with working conditions becoming unsafe and public spaces in a state that constrains our ability to attract new audiences and welcome those with access needs.

We are undertaking a major capital redevelopment project to create a fit-for-purpose, fit-for-the-future public building. Working with acclaimed architects Haworth Tompkins (Bristol Old Vic, Liverpool Everyman, National Theatre),our transformative redevelopment will deliver an enhanced visitor experience and improved income-generating facilities within a greener, more efficient, and inclusive building.
