We're raising funds for our ON YOUR SIDE children's rights advice service which gives straightforward information about the law to help children and young people in England defend their rights. Most children and young people who benefit from this unique service are in care, hospital or prison.

Children and young people in care and/or living in institutional settings such as children's homes, hospitals and prisons are often made to feel unheard and alone, and that nobody is on their side. When they receive help from independent advocates, knowing their rights in law can help bring about great changes - making sure they have settled homes, supporting their education, and challenging abusive restraint and other mistreatment, for example.
Our ON YOUR SIDE children's rights advice service provides tailored legal information so that independent advocates and others working with individual children and young people know the legal duties of public bodies like local authorities, hospitals and prisons. This legal information empowers young people and their advocates to question and challenge decisions and actions, and to bring about the changes they want to see in their lives.
