Sinfonia Smith Square's annual Fellowship, a celebrated programme for gifted graduate musicians, is a vital element of the UK music scene. As well as alleviating poverty among young players at a difficult time before they enter the music provision (by providing bursaries), we produce musicians as required by orchestras today who not only play brilliantly but possess all the other skills needed to thrive in an ensemble including knowledge of the core repertoire from Baroque to contemporary.

Sinfonia Smith Square occupies a unique position between music college and the profession. Conservatoires value the quality and depth of our orchestral immersion for which they do not have the scope. We provide a stepping stone into the industry and the support of a bursary. Players learn to become strong orchestral players after years of individual focus, confident communicators and innovative artists with an awareness of the physical and mental health required of a musician.
