Situation
1 in 5 will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. The police receive a domestic abuse related call every 30 seconds and every 5 days a woman in England and Wales will be killed by an abusive current or former partner. 62% of the 1 in 5 children who witness domestic abuse will be directly harmed themselves and may experience long term impacts on their behaviour and emotional well-being. We want to break the cycle of abuse.
Solution
We provide support to someone experiencing abuse whatever the stage in their journey, whether it is: participation in a support group which helps them identify abusive behaviour; 1-2-1 safety planning advice or a refuge space for someone seeking to leave an abusive relationship; to 1-2-1 /group recovery support to help enable someone to move on from the abuse they have experienced. We also provide education and training on healthy relationships to help break the cycle of abuse.
