Poor levels of education in disadvantaged rural communities leads to a severe lack of skills for University education or employment. Our programme seeks to bridge the gap, providing ICT, English and numeracy education and essential life skills. Seeking funding to double the number of students.

Overcrowded classrooms (with up to 100 children), demotivated teachers (often unpaid), and a lack of resources all contribute to the problem of rural learning. As universities/colleges rely more on online teaching, disadvantaged children are left even further behind. In addition vulnerable students in our project are either orphans or are living in severe poverty. The have no role models or mentors to go to for career advice or to support them in their next educational or employment steps.

Designed to build on core skills of English Literacy, Numeracy and ICT, as well as develop essential life skills such as organisational skills, financial planning and budget management. We also support students with international tutors and careers advice, and this year began building core skills earlier by expanding the programme to children aged between 13-18. Due to community need we hope to expand the project next year to have double the amount of students and purchase new resources.
