Situation
On average, a family caring for a baby or child with disabilities requires five pieces of specialist equipment to provide a basic level of care. This equipment must be tailored to the child's individual clinical needs to ensure their requirements are met, and because of this it is often very expensive. High equipment costs, compounded by the rising cost of living, pushes many families who care for a disabled child into emotional and financial crisis.
Solution
The Sunshine Fund provides the vital funds and network required by families to get the equipment and support they require to ensure that their child has the best quality of life, as well as access to the same opportunities as any other child. We facilitate four equipment funding panels per year, where applications from families, medical professionals and organisations are assessed and funded.
