We are addressing the challenge of growing digital inequity, realising its consequences for education, health, employability, and wider connectivity. In Ghana, digital access is severely limited in the rural areas where we work, where internet uptake rates are at 54% compared to 80% in urban areas (World Bank). A 2023 study we conducted suggested that 50% of learners at the Spots had no access to a digital device, and were learning ICT on a blackboard.

Through our network of 50 community-led education spaces, we will provide over 10,000 learners with access to tablets, a laptop, wifi kits and projector, enabling over 400 Catalysts to lead education initiatives effectively and embed digital learning skills into our programmes for learners and Catalysts. The tablets also enable learners to access the EduSpots’ app through which they can access our programmes and network support, alongside a range of wider learning apps, resources and tools.
